Julie qualified as a Paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service in 2002, where she spent several years developing her skills and gaining experience based in Ayrshire. In 2010, she was delighted to become an Air Ambulance Paramedic and Technical Crew Member on Helimed 5 based in Glasgow. Working alongside the EMRS inspired her decision to specialise in Critical Care and Retrieval Medicine and in November 2017, she achieved her ambition to join the EMRS as a Retrieval Practitioner.

Julie has completed a BSc Paramedic Practice (Critical Care) and completed other educational courses including ALS, PHA and MIMMS. The coming year looks to be a busy one for Julie as she undertakes the Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Skills and Innovative Practices and studies for the DipIMC (RCSEd).

Away from work, Julie’s passions include her very tolerant husband and livewire daughter and planning as many mini-breaks and long-haul holidays as her husband will allow! In her very limited ‘me time’ she enjoys being very average at 10k running, cycling and Scottish Skiing – not forgetting the occasional Spa day!
